Melodie Monrose

Fresh Face Melodie Monrose!

Her stunning beauty is a mix of elegance, sophistication & quirkiness.

This French newcomer has to be the most impressive of all: She’s a style.com Top 10 new face!, She made COACD’s Top Ten!, & On E! news they mentioned Melodie in a little segment about fashion week. She was one of their top new faces to look out for.

Just being discovered earlier this year and signing with a newly revamped Wilhelmina shortly thereafter,  this is possibly the greatest debut ever for a Black Model in recent times in terms of the quality of shows.

She quickly snatched up work and walked the Spring Jason Wu, DKNY, Max Azria, rag & bone, 3.1 Phillip Lim, and Marc Jacobs shows in New York- her very first Fashion Week!

She then went on to walk the spring Gucci, Missoni, Blumarine, Bottega Veneta, Gianfranco Ferre, and Prada shows in Milan, then signed with Silent models in Milan.

She has more credits to her name than some models with 5 more years of experience than her.

Wilhelmina did a great job finding and developing Melodie.

Management at this point in her career is crucial. She should be with a savvy agency that’s got great contacts and that will be able to push her & get her noticed beyond the runway.

Beauty & brains:Smart move becoming centralized in Paris…she’s from Martinique so French is her 1st language.

She plans on continuing with her education at the same time as having a blossoming career!Let’s hope she builds this momentum she has now with some high profile editorials and a few decent campaigns like the ones she did for Gap Spring 2011 ,DAZED & CONFUSED (DECEMBER ISSUE), Interview Magazine etc..

  • Fashion is increasingly a visual part of our global reality. the studioArena explores moving fashion beyond the development of European mercantile capitalism, commodity fetishism, and the politics of production (the way fashion emphasizes consumption at the expense of production.
  • Fashion has always played a leading role in constructing images and meanings during periods of rapid social, economic and technological change. It can act out instability or loss, or it can stake out the territory of new social and sexual identities.
